First Parent Classroom and School Info Email

Hello Parents!

Since this is our first School Information Email, I am requesting that you reply in order to confim that I have your correct email address. Just a brief hello would be great!

I want to personally congratulate all the students in our class for making our Toy Auction Fundraiser a success. The auction raised $112 to benefit children at the Canuck Place hospice. The students worked together to make it happen!

We are beginning a Writing Circle Unit this term. The students will be working collaboratively to develop their writing. They are currently generating a list of ideas to write about and establishing rules and strategies to offer each other constructive feedback.

This Past Week's Homework Assignments
Read at least 20 minutes each evening
Health and Reading Log update
Handwriting pp. 64-68
Next Friday's ID test will be on Bugs p. 7 and Asian countries 42-48 in the Study Guide (Students receive a bonus mark on each of their tests if they have their tests signed by a parent and returned)
Math - Geometry pp. 88-89, 92-93, 95, 98-99
Simple Wikipedia search: World War II - The students are to try and answer the questions that they have about WW II - if you don't have an Internet connection at home they can do this after school on our classroom computer. Answers are due on Monday.
Save the Pacific Tree Octopus! - The students are to show their parents this website and talk about how to distinguish reliable information from false information.
Website of the Week: RAINFOREST MATHS

This is an excellent interactive site to help students understand many different mathematical concepts. Appropriate for students in grades one to six.
